I read this awesome book a year after I began using my Nikon D Finally, the camera settings make more sense to me and now I understand the importance of shooting RAW. As another reviewer stated, Wiley doesn’t publish junk. This book by Mike Hagen is clear, uses real screen captures in color to demonstrate, and is laid out in a very logical and easy to follow manor.
One of my favorite technical books. I am very sorry to say that I was never able to find a copy of this book. I was very encouraged and excited when I read the reviews that were written for the book, copyrighted in or , now out of print.
I have even been in touch with the author, Mike Hagen, who is now a director at the Nikonians organization. When I tried to order the book from his web site, they were also out of the book. I did ask the Amazon Kindle staff to see if the book can be made into a Kindle ebook, with the author’s permission.
I finally decided to write this review because Mr. Hagen is also the author of the book, Thousands of Images, Now What? He addresses the issues of choosing a storage method using several types of software now on the market.

All the tools and methods available in NX2 are well explained and there is so much it can do that is not that well documented by Nikon.
The author writes very clearly and takes the reader through everything that NX2 can do in a step by step way. After using this book for a week with the software I find I can understand much more about the RAW process now and use many more of the programmes features.
Many people dismiss this software but once you get into it you are rewarded with much more flexible adjustments and control than offered in Photoshop RAW processor. Nikon keeps adding little features to the software so that it supports newer RAW files and features included in the newer cameras. Overall this book has helped me get into this software and understand much more about the Nikon RAW format and it’s power.
I have started to shoot in RAW more often and have found that Capture NX2 is very competent at processing RAW image files, unfortunately I found a couple of the tools a little confusing so I decided to buy this book to guide me towards making the most of NX2. Nikons own manual does give plenty of information but not as much as I need to make more use of some of the tools available in NX2.
When I got to the part that really interested me I found that the author gave good description of how to use most of the enchancment tools available, unfortunately the tools I was most interested in the author only gave basic information re how to use the tools.
I was hoping that more information would have been provided on how to make the most of the tools, I know so much more could be done with them but I am unable to figure out how to do it myself.
All in all I think it is a very useful book, but I will need to find more detailed information from another scource. Report abuse. I bought this book after purchasing the NX2 software. I gave the package a five star in spite of the fact that I found the accompanying manual rather abstract, having been written by a technocrat with limited communication skill.
