This article is for small businesses who use Hubdoc. Set up two-factor authentication 2FA for your Hubdoc login to protect it from unauthorised use. We recommend all customers set up 2FA, even if you access Hubdoc from Xero. Two-factor authentication 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your Hubdoc login.

With 2FA you need to enter two authentication codes to access your Hubdoc organisation. The first code is your password, and the second is a verification code generated by an app on your mobile device. Setting up 2FA for your Hubdoc login enables it for you as a user, for every organisation you access.

Each user needs to set up 2FA for their own user account. If you don’t already have an authenticator app, you need to download one before you set up 2FA. On the dashboard, click the profile icon in the top right hand corner, then select Profile. Record your recovery key in a secure place, then select the checkbox to confirm. Use the authenticator app to scan the barcode showing in Hubdoc.

In Hubdoc, enter the authentication code generated in the app, then click Verify Code. Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication to confirm. Customise the settings for your Hubdoc organisation. Please note that if you want to select a phone number, you need to use a different phone number than the one entered in the previous step.

This step is required for principal users and optional is for all other users. Once you have enabled 2FA, the next time you log in to Ignition, you will be prompted to enter the one-time password that will automatically generate in your authenticator app or SMS, depending on your preferred 2FA method.
