I’ve checked your log files. From the client log, I found that your Teams client did have the action to open Word desktop app. However, in the web log, I didn’t find any related actions that Teams try to open Word or Excel file.

Compared with a normal log, when you tried to open files in Teams web, it didn’t trigger a Request URL to open Word or Excel desktop app. So I’m not sure whether it’s related with the Word app since there’re different behaviors. In this scenario, you can first make sure the default apps to open these files are Office apps.

To further narrow down this issue, please open the SharePoint team site and try to open the files in desktop app to check if it works. Besides, what are the formats of these files,.
