Each one runs its own instance of Things and each one fills in new data within a few seconds of my entry on a different device. Things has built a fabulous system that just works really well. One of the features that Things does not have with its current version is some sort of collaboration tool.
The feature I use the most is definitely the Quick Entry option. With this feature, users can set a keyboard shortcut to open a to-do entry window. Another one of my favorite features is the When option. This is the scheduling aspect of Things. When a schedule is set for a to-do, Things recognizes that timing and filters items into different views. The checklist feature comes in very handy as well.
While I was testing out the features of Things 3, I ended up needing to use this feature. I set a to-do item for setting up a NAS device. Along with that, I needed to move stored data to a different hard drive, install new drives, and reformat the HDDs. It was great to be able to put those individual steps beneath a to-do rather than create an entire Project for that one set of tasks. This gives me an idea of where I am on any given Project.
I like feeling as though tasks are being completed — even if they are smaller tasks. An example would be, I have a special needs child who needs specialized schooling and assistance with every day tasks. Getting him the help he needs is covered by various government services but requires numerous steps on my part to get each need of his covered.
It would require me to have a large desk planner to have something like this which is basically a project but a one person, non paid project planned out on a physical planner; but this app eliminates that necessity. The following data may be collected and linked to your identity:.

In this case, I created headers for “Things to buy” and “Things to move,” since re-imagining my den is going to require both of those tasks. What’s nice about Things 3 is that it has more tools than you might need. For example, I rarely use the scheduling tools right now — but if I ever encounter a time-sensitive project, this feature will absolutely come in handy.
Still, despite the abundance of tools, Cultured Code has managed to simplify the art of organization and make it work for categorizing small thoughts and big projects alike.
If you ever wish you could be more organized, Things 3 provides an excellent canvas and some very clever tools to make your life feel less cluttered and more manageable. Keep reading. Before, you could only snooze an alert for 10 minutes, but now you can choose how long: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. Perhaps best of all, the app no longer jumps to the foreground when you hit snooze! This update is available now for download on the App Store.
We hope you enjoy it! Things 3. For Things, the greatest new feature in iOS 14 is Home Screen Widgets: customizable tiles that show you pertinent information at a glance. You can add as many Things widgets as you want, intermingle them with widgets from other apps, stack them on top of each other and flick through them with your thumb.
We hope you like them too! The Modular watch faces can now show the top 3 items from your Today list. And the Siri watch face now shows your upcoming reminders. Apple is shipping out their new Magic Keyboard, which for the first time includes a trackpad that lets you control an on-screen cursor. Apple surprised us all last month when they added cursor support to iPadOS.
Context menus everywhere. You can now right-click stuff! This will reveal context menus with powerful actions. It also works for lists in the sidebar like Today or Upcoming. Open a new window. This puts Things into Split View so you can see your two lists side by side.
Swipe gestures. As a touch-based app, Things for iPad has many great gestures available. We first created Things for Apple Watch five years ago, when watches were still slow and entirely dependent on your phone for connectivity. While it seemed like a fine idea at the time, in practice it turned out to be slow and error-prone. In the years since, the Apple Watch has come a long way.
Devices are faster, have more storage, support background refresh, connect to WiFi, and many are free-roaming on LTE. In short, we knew that big improvements were possible for Things — and well overdue. So in January, we disassembled our watch app and began replacing all the parts: the sync, data layer, complication integrations, background refresh, Siri integration — everything under the hood is completely new.
The most important change in this release is that Things on your watch will now sync directly with Things Cloud. Everything is already on your watch and ready to go. Of course, all of this requires a Things Cloud account.
By default, the watch app saves new to-dos to your Inbox; you can now set Today as the default instead. Check out our 15 day free trial of Things for Mac. The design team at Cultured Code have worked their magic all over the app, and every individual bit and pixel has been redesigned and crafted to perfection.
